The BRK Brocock Ghost is a real airgun success story, so much so that this bullpup PCP has established something close to a cult following over the past couple of years.
Although extremely compact, the BRK Ghost packs a lot of features and adaptability into diminutive and very rigid monobloc chassis – a feature shared with the flagship Alpha Wolf and Delta Wolf electronic PCP airguns made by sister company Daystate.
Both brands know how important pride of ownership is to their customers and enhance this element of the shooting experience by adding special models to their continually evolving ranges. Now the BRK Ghost has been given a new twist with the eye-catching Special Edition, or SE model, which incorporates several exclusive features. That exclusivity comes at a cost, and the model featured here has a recommended retail price of £1,950. However, when you consider just what has been incorporated into this exceptional take on an already excellent airgun, you will probably agree that the outlay still amounts to surprisingly good value.
The BRK Brocock Ghost SE really is a head-turner. Its blue colour scheme doesn’t appear to have been developed for covert hunting assignments, but it will certainly grab some attention on the range.

This gun is available in several barrel and power configurations. The HP version comes in 23 and 28 inch barrel options with a barrel tensioning system. The model featured here is the Plus, which has a 17-inch barrel. Overall length is an extremely compact 740mm – or 845mm with the silencer fitted – and it weighs about 3.5kg. The barrel is sleeved with a chunky carbon shroud which incorporates a half-inch UNF thread for the attachment of the colour coordinated silencer. The silencer is about 165mm long on the HP model and 120mm on the Plus, and is very effective when it comes to stifling noise at the muzzle.
Adaptability has always been a priority in the development of the BRK Ghost, and the SE still features the tried and tested quick-change barrel system, so you can swap between barrel lengths and calibres in a matter of minutes.
Another key feature of the Special Edition Ghost is it’s forend, which incorporates top and bottom race Arca and M-LOK rails. The square profile makes for very stable bench shooting and also feels surprisingly good in the hand. The main purpose of those rails is for fast and secure attachment of accessories – gun support in the case of most shooters, I would guess – and they do it well.

The Ghost SE also has Picatinny accessory rails on either side of its chassis, and a twin-clamp Picatinny top rail for scope attachment. That scope rail rides on a dovetail rail; slacken off its fastening screws and you can slide it back and forth for precision positioning. The cheek support sits on the same full-length rail and can also slide forwards and backwards in the same way, enabling you to achieve the right position for a comfortable fit.
I really like the BRK Ghost pistol grip – it’s ambidextrous, grippy and very comfortable. It can be swapped out, but I think the standard one is perfectly good. A nice feature specific to the SE model is the Gecko butt pad. It is height adjustable to tweak fit for correct eye/scope alignment and it feels very good in the shoulder. There is a further Picatinny connection point at the base of the butt section.

Very handily, the SE comes supplied with a neat little single-shot loading system – perfect for anyone planning to use it in competition. You also get BRK’s excellent gate-loading, self-indexing magazine, which is pellet-friendly and very easy to load. It holds 13 shots in .177 calibre, 11 in .22, 10 in .25 and 8 in .30. Driven by a sidelever mechanism with a chunky, oversized dropdown handle, the cocking and loading system is fast and utterly reliable. And that sidelever can even be swapped over to the opposite side for lefthanders.
The BRK Ghost SE is equipped with a match-type trigger blade that can quickly be adjusted for length of pull, height and angle. The two-stage trigger mechanism is also fully adjustable but – as you would expect on a gun of this quality – it was excellent straight from the box. The fairly short first stage is followed by a clear stop before a crisp, positive second stage break which is completely free from creep.
Conveniently located just above the trigger blade is a crossbolt safety catch which is very easy to access. You push the button across from the left into the safe position, then simply nudge it back across from the right when you’re ready to take the shot.

Apart from being a very adaptable modular platform, the Ghost also gives you a lot of adjustability in terms of power output. High power models have quick and easy external regulator adjustment via a knob positioned just above the neck of the carbon air tank. All models feature a 20-point power adjuster wheel for tweaking output. Sub-12ft/lb shooters will find this feature useful not just for winding down power for backyard plinking but also for tweaking output to achieve optimum performance with different ammunition.
All models also feature a Huma regulator to enhance air efficiency and consistency. High power models are capable of muzzle energy of up to around 100ft/lb. The far more modest .177 calibre sub-12 model I was sent for review was running at around 11.4ft/lb on full output. Shot to shot consistency was impressive with velocity spread remaining within five feet per second over a ten-shot string with Rangemaster Sovereign pellets.
Regulator pressure is displayed on the gauge on the left side of the action while pressure in the main bottle is displayed on the one on the right. The removable 480cc carbon bottle makes for a very generous air capacity. Maximum fill pressure is 250 bar and from that you can expect well over 400 shots per fill at sub 12ft/lb. When it is time to refill, just flip off the magnetic cap that shields the inlet just in front of the trigger guard and couple up with the supplied connector.

The BRK Brocock Ghost has a proven record when it comes to serious accuracy, and the SE is no exception. The review gun came supplied with an MTC Optics Viper Connect scope. I don’t often use short eye relief scopes but, going by the results I achieved with this setup and those Rangemaster Sovereign pellets, I can see why so many people do. Shooting from a bench in a very gentle breeze, it was pellet on pellet at 20m – that’s not exceptional for a gun of this quality but it was still much the same at 30m. At 40m, groups had opened up slightly – probably down to me and the breeze more than the gun – bit it was still single-holing.
The BRK Brocock Ghost SE is a great airgun with some amazing features, and its electric blue colour scheme certainly stands out from the crowd. The extras in this package are genuinely useful and it’s a special airgun that owners will want to take very good care of. Brocock have even thought of that, and the SE comes with a custom fitted, foam-lined hard case to keep this exceptional airgun safe in transit.
The BRK Brocock Ghost Special Edition, or SE, is built on a tried and tested modular platform but has a real air of exclusivity. It is tough, dependable, highly adaptable and very accurate. I really enjoyed shooting it really does look the business. It may be somewhat conspicuous when set against the soft greens and browns of the British countryside, but club shooters who want to stand out from the crowd can rest assured that nobody is going to fail to notice the Ghost SE’s stunning blue livery.
